For more than four decades, Chic Donovan built a reputation as one of professional wrestling’s most dependable performers, competing everywhere from Championship Wrestling from Florida and Jim Crockett Promotions to Memphis, the Carolinas, and countless independent promotions. In this rare Highspots shoot interview, Donovan reflects on his long career, breaking into the wrestling business during the territory era and sharing stories about the many legendary wrestlers, promoters, and personalities he encountered along the way.
Donovan discusses working alongside and against stars including Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, Jerry Lawler, Ricky Steamboat, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, Ivan Koloff, and many others while offering a veteran’s perspective on the evolution of the wrestling business. Known for his professionalism and longevity, he also shares candid thoughts on locker room culture, life on the road, the decline of the territory system, and the changes that transformed wrestling from regional promotions into a national spectacle. Filled with behind-the-scenes stories, old-school psychology, and honest reflections from a true wrestling journeyman, this interview is a must-see for fans of classic professional wrestling.
