Sgt. Craig “Pitbull” Pittman Shoot Interview (2008) 6/12/08
In this revealing 2008 shoot interview, Craig Pittman reflects on a unique career that began long before professional wrestling. A decorated United States Marine, Pittman discusses his military service and how the discipline and toughness he developed in the Marine Corps helped shape his approach to wrestling. He shares stories from breaking into the business and eventually finding a home in WCW, where his legitimate amateur wrestling background and no-nonsense style made him stand out during the company’s rapidly changing landscape in the 1990s.
Pittman looks back on his WCW run as Sgt. Craig Pittman, including his memorable feuds with Big Bubba Rogers, VK Wallstreet, and other mid-card rivals, as well as his association with manager Teddy Long. Never one to hold back, Pittman offers candid opinions on WCW management, missed opportunities, and the politics that he believes prevented many talented wrestlers from reaching their full potential. He also discusses racial tensions he witnessed during his time in the company, sharing his perspective on how race and favoritism affected opportunities behind the scenes. Filled with military stories, locker room insight, and blunt commentary on WCW’s successes and failures, this interview provides a fascinating look at one of wrestling’s most legitimate competitors.
